Everyday, many people search the internet for terms like “how to get your ex back” and “how to get him or her to return to me”. A breakup can be emotionally tormenting and especially if you do not wish that to happen. According to relationship consultants, the chances of repairing a broken relationship is high if you are willing to work on getting your ex back.

There are 5 essential steps you can take to get your ex back to you. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to modify them to suit your needs.

Step 1 – Experience And Recover From Your Emotional Hurts

Breaking up with someone you truly love is as good as losing a loved one in death. It is a loss that needs to be grieved. Suppressing and denying your anger, hurt, confusion, loneliness are not helpful in healing your bruised heart. However, do not dwell on this state for too long. Learn to stand up on your feet again. Getting support from friends and family will help.

Step 2 – Evaluate Your Breakup

A lot of so called reasons for breakups are actually triggers. The real root problem is often something else. It is important that you find out the real reason especially if you want to get your ex back to you. Knowing the true reason will prepare you to come up with a proper game plan to win him or her back into your arms.

Step 3 – Give Each Other A Break

Immediately after the break up, do give each other a break. Sounds ironical right? Shouldn’t you be calling him or her and maintain contact? Well, research findings have revealed an astounding fact. Couples who maintain zero contact after the break up stand a higher chance of getting back together. In other words, by not contacting will actually make it easier for you to get your ex back to you.

A cooling off period is good for your ex to realize that his or her life is not the same as it was before. Who knows, he or she may start to reminisce the happy moments you spend together and yearn for your return.

Step 4 – Gain Powerful Allies

Who does your ex respect and listen to? His or her friends, dad, mum or siblings perhaps. Gaining powerful allies in these folks is a powerful move. They can be your ears and eyes as well as mediate between the both of you. However, if you are in their bad books, do not push them too hard or pester them by calling repeatedly. It is going to act against you. You need allies, not enemies.

Step 5 – Set A Time To Meet Up

After you have cooled down, it is time to communicate. Start first with a little note, a short text message or email to test his or her response. Express your concern from the angle of a friend. You will be surprised at the response. If the response seems positive, try to take a step further by arranging to meet up. Before all this, please do your homework by planning a game plan of what to say. Failing to do so is as good as going into a battle without a strategy. Failure is certain. But a well planned meeting will reap benefits, and even possible get your ex back after the meeting.
